Your DIY Candle Kit comes with everything you need to create your own Rolled Beeswax Candles. Each kit contains at least 9 sheets, and each candle is made from rolling 2 or 3 sheets around the wick, using the natural heat of your hands.

There are lots of options when it comes to rolling your candles! Roll along the longer edge for a tall 8" candle, or roll along the shorter edge for a 5" pillar candle.

WHAT YOU NEED FOR ROLLING YOUR BEESWAX CANDLES:

  • A SHARP KNIFE

  • A RULER

  • A PAIR OF SCISSORS

  • A HAIR DRYER (OPTIONAL)

A NOTE ON BLOOM:

In some cases, your beeswax will arrive with “bloom”. This white film occurs naturally on pure beeswax sheets. To restore the sheets to their vibrant colors, gently heat the sheets with a hair dryer- or leave in the sun until the colour has returned!

OPTIONAL STEP: CUT YOUR WAX

optional: cut your beeswax sheets before you roll for a tapered candle

Optional step: Using a knife and ruler, cut the top edges off the sheets (on a shallow slope) for a tapered look.

STEP 1: PREPARE YOUR WAX

Your beeswax sheets should easily roll. If the wax seems stiff gently heat your wax sheets with a hair dryer, or leave in the sun for a few hours!

STEP 2: PICK YOUR WICK

pick the correct wick for your rolled beeswax candle: pick for the final diamater

Pick the right wick before you roll:

  • For a 7/8 inch diameter candle, use two sheets & pick the “Small” wick.
  • For a 1 1/2 inch diameter candle, use three sheets and pick the “Large” wick.

The height of your candle doesn’t affect the wick choice.

STEP 3: CUT YOUR WICK

cut your wick to 1" longer than your beeswax sheet before you roll your beeswax candles

Place the wick parallel to- and 1/8 inch away from- the edge of the sheet you’re about to roll. With the end of the wick lined up with the bottom edge of your sheet, cut the wick one inch longer than the height of the sheet.

STEP 4: SECURE THE WICK

Pinch the wick into the wax, 1/8" away from the edge your about to roll into a candle

Making sure the “V” (formed by the braiding in the wick) is facing the “bottom” of your candle, start to gently push the wick down into place. Begin to roll the edge of the wax over the wickpinching the wick into the wax.

STEP 5: ROLL & REPEAT!

Roll your beeswax sheet away from you to create your candle

Roll the sheet away from you, making sure the bottom edge is lined up as you roll. Once you’re done rolling each sheet, press the edges down firmly with your thumb to secure them.

Press the edges of the beeswax sheets down (as you roll your candle) to secure them in place before adding more sheets

STEP 6: TRIM YOUR WICK

trim your wick before lighting your beeswax sheet candle

Trim wick to ¼" before you light your candle to ensure it burns correctly. To fit your candle into a candle holder, you can pinch the bottom edge to reduce the diameter. Your hand rolled candle is ready to light & enjoY.
